What is Pupil Premium Funding?

The school receives additional funding from the government called ‘Pupil Premium’. This money is intended to ensure that all pupils, including those who are disadvantaged, attain at least as well as their peers by:

• raising the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and closing the gap with their peers
• supporting children and young people with parents in the regular armed forces

Who is entitled to Pupil Premium Funding?

Disadvantaged Pupils

‘Disadvantaged pupils’ include pupils who are in care, or have been adopted from care and pupils whose families who have had a low income and been in receipt of the following benefits at any point within the last six years:

• Income support
• Income-based jobseekers’ allowance
• Income-related employment and support allowance
• Support under Part IV of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
• The guaranteed element of state pension credit
• Child tax credit, provided that you are not also entitled to working tax credit and have an annual gross income of £16,190 or less
• Universal credit

This group is entitled to Free School Meals (FSM) from Year 3 when the eligibility for infant universal free school meals has ended.

Service Pupils

This group includes children whose parents have served in the armed forces within the last 4 years.
